Nocturn Play review: 18 games, none of them a copy

Nocturn Play shipped 18 casino games in one week of autumn 2026: a coin pusher, a jewel cube, a ring board, a naval battle, plinko, bingo, crash and slots.

7.9/10

Verdict. A brand-new studio whose formats are genuinely its own; the catalogue is small and the track record is weeks old, but the arcade titles give operators something their lobby does not already have.

MediaSoftware has a commercial relationship with this brand. It is scored on the same published grid as every other brand.

Strengths

  • Formats rarely seen in casino lobbies: a 3D jewel cube, a ring board, a naval battle game, a match-3 game
  • Outcomes are decided on the server; the crash game uses provably fair SHA-256 seeds
  • 32 languages on screen, including Arabic and Persian right-to-left
  • 52 fiat currencies and 11 cryptocurrencies listed by the studio
  • Every title can be tried for free on the studio's own website

Weak points

  • 18 games in total, all released between 29 September and 5 October 2026
  • No live casino, no table games, a single crash title
  • Sands of the Mansa, the coin pusher, is free play on nocturnplay.com only and not offered to operators
  • No long-run player data yet: no title has had time to become a lobby regular

Most new studios open with a handful of five-reel slots and a promise. Nocturn Play opened with a naval battle. Between 29 September and 5 October 2026 the studio released 18 games, and most of the non-slot titles look nothing like what a casino lobby already carries: a 3D cube of jewels, a board of spinning rings, a battleship grid hidden in fog, a candy-matching game you can stake money on.

Disclosure: MediaSoftware has a commercial relationship with Nocturn Play. The score below follows the same studios grid as every other studio on this site.

What is actually in the catalogue

The ten slots cover the usual families but rarely in their usual clothes. Viking Raid is a 4×5, 625-ways game with longship row wilds and two separate bonuses, The Storm and a rune-based Raid. Gold Rush Outlaws runs 6 variable reels with up to 46,656 ways. The Cinder Clockmaker pushes the same idea to up to 117,649 ways with cascades and a pendulum multiplier. Black Jaguar Temple is a cluster game that starts on a 3×3 grid and grows to 7×7. Obsidian Pharaoh is the studio’s book-style slot, with a pyramid wild kept separate from the expanding symbol.

The other eight titles are where the studio’s identity sits:

  • Altitude Zero, a crash game with two bets per flight.
  • Fox Festival, a pachinko-style ball game with 14 rows of lanterns, 9 pockets, torii gate multipliers and a four-level jackpot.
  • Night Bingo, 75-ball bingo with one to four cards and a golden-ball joker.
  • Firefly Sweets, a match-3 game on a 7×7 board.
  • Ghost Fleet, a naval battle on an 8×8 chart with nine hidden ships and a Kraken Hunt bonus.
  • The Peacock Cube, a 3×3×3 jewel cube where one to three faces are played.
  • The Spindle of the Fates, four rings of twelve squares turning around a centre.
  • Sands of the Mansa, a 3D coin pusher with a five-lane ledge, playable for free on the studio’s site but not distributed to operators.

How the games are built

The studio says outcomes are calculated on its server rather than in the browser, and that recorded test rounds are replayed on the server before each release. For a young studio this matters more than the art: an operator taking on an unknown supplier needs to know that the client on the player’s screen cannot decide a result. Altitude Zero adds provably fair SHA-256 seeds and a server-side auto cash-out, so a dropped connection does not cost a player a cash-out they had set.

Localisation is broader than most studios offer at launch: 32 languages, right-to-left included, and a currency list of 52 fiat currencies and 11 cryptocurrencies, with BTC available in smaller units for low-stake play.

Distribution

Seventeen of the eighteen titles are carried by SoftAggregator, the B2B aggregator owned by the same group, which puts them behind a single seamless-wallet API next to thousands of games from other studios. Aggregators and casino platforms that want the games in their own catalogue are pointed to a partner page on nocturnplay.com. There is no free mode at operator level; free play exists only on the studio’s site.

Where it falls short

Eighteen games released inside a single week is a launch, not a track record. Nothing in the catalogue has yet had months of real traffic, there is no live casino and no table games, and the crash vertical rests on one title. Operators who want a studio with a back catalogue of player favourites should look elsewhere for now.

Score

7.9/10. High marks for originality, localisation and server-side delivery; points lost on catalogue depth and track record, which together make up a third of the studios grid. The score is likely to move once the games have a few months of live play behind them.
